A Sydney man has been accused of tasering a police officer during an arrest in the city's south-west.

Jason McGoldrick, 50, was on the train with his girlfriend Blair Richards yesterday afternoon when the pair allegedly failed to produce valid tickets, police say.

They were escorted off at Yennora train station.

However, police allege that Mr McGoldrick then turned violent, grabbing a senior constable's taser and aiming it at a sergeant on the ground.

It allegedly went off four times before the officers took back control.

They used baton strikes to arrest him.
