Police swarm suspects' car after high speed Brisbane pursuit

Two men are facing a host of charges after a wild pursuit involving 10 police cars in Brisbane’s south on the weekend.

Police said yesterday a motorbike patrol officer had allegedly spotted a car speeding on Cobalt Street in Forest Lake.

The car then allegedly failed to stop for police eastbound on the Logan Motorway, before police deployed road spikes in Algester.

The damaged car then allegedly struck a police car before coming to a stop.

In video released by Queensland Police, the car can be seen speeding through the streets with both the front and rear passenger doors open and a trail of sparks showering from the damaged wheels.

As the chase came to a halt, 10 police cars swarmed the suspects’ car and two men were arrested.

A 33-year-old Wilston man was charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, two counts of failing to stop motor vehicle, and one count each of burglary, receiving tainted property, dangerous operation of a vehicle, acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, wilful damage of police property and unlicensed driving.

A 36-year-old man was charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, burglary and receiving tainted property.

Both men will appear in the Richlands Magistrates Court today.
