Police respond to 'loud bang' at 7th Heaven actor's house after molestation accusations emerge

Police swarmed former 7th Heaven actor Stephen Collins’ home today after reports of a loud bang inside, just hours after the star was accused of molesting several young girls in 1970s.

An audio recording of Collins, best known for his role as minister Eric Camden in the long running family drama 7th Heaven, allegedly admitting to inappropriately dealings with three girls in separate incident emerged today.

But today’s incident quickly proved to be a false alarm with the LA Police Department confirming Collins was not even at the house in Tarzana, in Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley region, when the noise was heard.

It is believed they spoke with the actor, who confirmed no one was the house, a short time later.

Media, including NBC journalist Gadi Schwartz were at the scene when police arrived.

“#LAPD is investigating a single loud bang that was heard in the area of #StephenCollins rental home. Still unclear what sound was,” he tweeted as emergency services arrived.

One of Collins’ neighbours, former Baywatch actress Donna D’Errico, tweeted photos of the cordoned-off street filled with police and emergency services vehicles.

“It’s a zoo out here,” she tweeted.

“The police have the street cordoned off and aren’t even letting residents in.”

Collins is now the subject of an NYPD investigation after a potentially incriminating audio recording emerged.

In the audio, recorded by his estranged wife during a 2012 therapy session, Collins allegedly admits to having inappropriate sexual contact with three young girls.

Collins was also due to star in the sequel to Seth MacFarlane's 2012 smash hit Ted, but was dropped after the allegations emerged, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
