No sign of gunman who confronted tradies in Melbourne lockdown suburb of Broadmeadows

Specialist police are patrolling a Melbourne suburb under coronavirus lockdown after a man with a gun reportedly confronted two tradies in a house.

The workmen entered a newly constructed townhouse in Broadmeadows at 7.15am this morning to complete some work when they heard noises and saw a man rush down the stairs armed with a gun.

The gunman threatened the workers who left the property and reported the incident to police.

Officers from Victoria Police's critical incident response team soon arrived at the home on Metelman Court, but were unable to find the gunman.

They are now monitoring the area, after checking each home on the block.

Investigations are ongoing.

Broadmeadows is one of Melbourne's coronavirus hotspots, with the suburb about to be placed into lockdown again.
