Eerie message carved into door where officer stabbed, man shot in Sydney

A threatening message carved into a door has been found as police investigate an incident that left a police officer stabbed and a man shot in Sydney's north.

Officers were called to a home on Warringah Road in Narraweena about 5.20pm yesterday when they were allegedly approached by a man with a knife.

Today, it was revealed that a threatening message had been carved into the door of an apartment the man had allegedly been trying to get into before the encounter.

As well as a smudged black print of a hand, the words "SNITCH DEDD" had been cut into the surface.

During the incident, the man allegedly threw a fire extinguisher, hitting a male police officer in the head.

The officer was also allegedly stabbed during the confrontation.

A second officer shot the man in the leg.

Both the man and the officer were taken to hospital.

Neither injury is believed to be life-threatening.

The investigation is ongoing, and the shooting will be subjected to an independent review.
