Police are calling for witnesses after a suspicious fire tore through an empty house in Sydney's west overnight.
Emergency services were called to St Ann Street in Merrylands at about 12.45am after reports of a house fire.
Firefighters arrived to find the home engulfed in flames but managed to extinguish the blaze.
The residents of the house were not home at the time of the fire and police said there were no injuries.
Police have established a crime scene and while the cause of the fire is not yet known, initial investigations suggest it may be suspicious.
