Offender hands himself over to police following vicious assault at train station in Melbourne

An offender has handed himself to police following the release of CCTV of an alleged assault at a Melbourne train station earlier this month, showing the moment a man narrowly escapes being hit by an approaching train.

The vision, released by Crime Stoppers, shows a man being punched in the head before being pushed onto the tracks by his attacker.

The offender then gets on his bike and rides away while continuing to shout abuse at the victim.

A bystander helped the man to safety by dragging him back onto the platform, he missed an oncoming express train less than two minutes later.
