Police review ordered into Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre’s death

WA Police have agreed to review their handling of Virginia Giuffre’s final months after her family raised serious questions about her death.

The 41-year-old, who was one of Jeffrey Epstein’s most prominent accusers, died by suicide at her property in Neergabby, north of Perth, in April last year.

Giuffre had been involved in a domestic dispute that required local police intervention before her death.

Following her death, her family called for a coronial inquest while demanding answers about how authorities handled her case.

WA Police Commissioner Col Blanch confirmed on Wednesday that those interactions with Giuffre would be subject to a review.

The commissioner revealed the probe during a parliamentary hearing after being asked about correspondence he had received from Giuffre’s family.

“We respond to over 100,000 family violence incidents every year … I’d love to give assurance on every single one, but I can’t - but that one will be subject to a review,” Blanch said.

Meanwhile, her family’s push for a full coronial inquest remains up in the air.

Earlier this month, women’s safety advocates joined calls for an inquiry, writing to the coroner to urge an investigation into Giuffre’s death.

But the WA coroner has yet to decide whether to grant a formal public inquest.

Giuffre first filed a civil lawsuit against Epstein under the pseudonym “Jane Doe 102” in 2009, before going public with her story years later.

She alleged she was trafficked as a minor to Epstein’s powerful associates, including Prince Andrew.

In 2022, the British royal, since stripped of his titles, settled Giuffre’s civil lawsuit out of court without admitting any wrongdoing.
