Two men in custody after burglaries west of Brisbane

Two men have been arrested following a major police operation in Ipswich.

Heavily armed police swooped on properties in Leichardt and North Booval this morning, taking two men into custody.

Police say the arrests relate to two incidents of burglary last night.

Just after 11pm, police responded to reports of four armed men who had entered a property in Drayton, but the men were gone when they arrived.

Just half an hour later, officers were called to a property in Newtown following reports four men had attempted to gain entry to the house before one man fired a gunshot and the group left in a sedan.

Police seized a Chrysler sedan, thought to have been stolen, and used in the robberies. 

Charges are yet to be laid.
