Police officers tuck drunk Tasmanian man into bed then take a selfie with him

Two Tasmanian police officers left some incriminating evidence on a drunk man's phone after tucking him safely into bed early on Sunday morning.

A friend of the man uploaded a screen capture to Reddit on Monday showing his friend, known only as Reece, giving the "hang ten" hand gesture while a male and female police officer smile in a selfie taken at the end of his bed.

"So was just looking through my phone and turns out these good c---s took some banger selfies after they took my drunk ass home," Reece wrote.

"Bloody legends."

Tasmania Police confirmed it was two of their police officers who took the selfie, but warned they are not normally in the habit of serving as a booze bus.

"However police are always looking for a place of safety for anyone who is affected by alcohol," Senior Sergeant Craig Fox of Tasmania Police's Northern District said.

"On this occasion, police were contacted by a taxi company for assistance in getting the man home. When police arrived, they found out his address, took the man home and waited for a friend to arrive to look after him."

"Because he was a bit worse for wear, our officers took the opportunity to record the moment with a selfie in the likely event he could not remember how he got home."
