Cop 'thrown over bonnet' after collision with car

A car and police bike have collided at South Plympton, seriously injuring an officer.

The male rider was rushed to the Royal Adelaide Hospital, after emergency crews raced to the corner of Marion and Cross Roads just after 5:30pm.

The officer had collided with a sedan attempting to do a right-hand turn.

He was knocked off his bike and thrown over the bonnet of the car.

The passenger side of the white Mitsubishi sedan was seriously damaged, but its P-plate driver, a 21-year-old Clarence Park woman, was not injured.

The male officer is expected to make a full recovery.

The Clarence Park woman has been fined more than $1000 for two offences, including failing to give way.
