Four-year-old boy's death being investigated in rural Queensland

The death of a four-year-old boy at Munbura, south of Mackay in Queensland, is being treated as suspicious.

Police revealed today a murder investigation had been launched into the death, which took place on August 29 and was initially reported as a suspected drowning.

However, police said a post-mortem indicated the cause of death was inconsistent with drowning.

How and why the child was found in the pool is also under investigation.
