Man dies of gunshot wounds in Sydney park

Forensic police are investigating how a man died in a public park after being found with critical gunshot wounds on a footpath in Croydon Park early this morning.

Paramedics attempted to revive the man, who is yet to be formally identified, but he died at the scene.

Neighbours told police they heard a number of gunshots fired just before the man’s body was found around 1.30am.

Police have set up a crime scene on Dunmore Street and called in detectives from the homicide squad to look into the suspicious death.

A post mortem examination will be completed this week.
