Police investigate Aust death in Fiji

The partly decomposed body of an Australian woman has been found in roadside bushes in Fiji.

The Victorian woman has been identified as Tracey Ann O'Brien Maw in Australian and Fijian media reports.

Ms Maw was reportedly bashed to death and investigations are continuing into her suspected murder.

A farmer discovered her body in Vunavutu village, near Sigatoka on Fiji's main island of Vita Levu, Fiji police said.

A family member in Pine Lodge, near Shepparton in rural Victoria, told AAP they did not want to comment.

Officials from the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade are providing consular assistance to her family.
