Suspected thief on the run in Adelaide after daring 100km/h escape
A suspected thief remains on the run in Adelaide tonight after an audacious escape from a police pursuit that left witnesses gobsmacked.
Brayden Dunning, who recorded the police chase on his mobile phone, said he saw the car with trailer attached careering down Whites Road in Paralowie at “at least” 100km/h in the early hours of this morning.
“I couldn’t get my head around the speed, the dangerous driving – putting everyone’s life at risk,” the teenager told 9NEWS.
The police car followed close behind, sirens blazing, but was quickly forced to call off the pursuit for safety reasons.
Local man Jason Peel says he is “certain” that the car shown in the footage is towing his two jet skis, which were stolen last Friday.
“Obviously, they didn’t want to be pulled over by the police and I strongly suspect that one of those reasons is because my two stolen jet skis are on the back,” he said.
Mr Peel was storing the two jet skis at his tank business in Greenfields when thieves broke in through a gate, driving off with his prized possessions.
“Those jet skis were a $47,000 investment, and I only had them for a week,” Mr Peel said.
“I’m just asking for everyone to look out for them and hopefully we find then real soon.”
