'High-risk' sex offender who removed electronic monitoring bracelet recaptured

A missing child sex offender who removed his electronic monitoring bracelet has been recaptured in Perth after nearly a week.

Tyrone Corbett, 44, allegedly committed a non-sexual offence before fleeing his home on Friday.

WA Police said officers had apprehended Corbett in Marquis Street in Bentley a short time ago and he is now in custody.

Detective Acting Inspector John Mottolini said officers had no idea Corbett would "behave like this" as detectives had visited him the morning before he escaped.

Mottolini had warned the public not to approach him as he is a "dangerous person" with violent tendencies.

"He has got convictions for serious offences, some of those offences are sexually related offences and we do have concerns that he may commit further offences," he said.

Corbett is a convicted child sex offender and police had considered him a "high-risk serious offender".
