Hunt for Perth gunman after drive-by shooting

Police are on the hunt for a gunman in Perth after a drive-by shooting sprayed a family home with bullets.

Residents along Barred Corner, Baldivis, say it's usually a quiet and peaceful street.

But at 3am this morning it was transformed into a crime scene, a car firing six gun shots into the garage door.

Police believe the attack was random, but say the firearm was so powerful the bullets penetrated straight through the garage door, hitting the car, fridge, back wall and one narrowly missing the rear door into the family home.

Forensics spent the day scouring the scene, finding shell casings scattered on the ground.

Neighbour Cathryn, 29, says she was outside with her dog at the time when she heard the shots go off.

"There was about five loud bangs, shots, and then it was just metal ricocheting. I kind of dropped to the ground stub the dog," she said.

Local resident and mother-of-two, Rebecca, said she's shocked this could happen in such a quiet neighbourhood.

"It was actually quite shocking to know there was gunfire, to know it could happen in our neighbourhood is quite scary," she said.

A couple and their 20-year-old daughter live in the home attacked.

Police are now searching for the car involved and those who were inside it.
