The 38-year-old man then allegedly kicked the police horse before slapping it.

The man then ran from the scene before other officers gave chase.

He allegedly spat at two male officers before they managed to place him under arrest.

He was charged with two counts of offensive behaviour, three counts of assaulting police, resisting arrest, animal cruelty, destroy or damage property, prevent free passage of a person or vehicle and escape lawful custody.

He was refused bail and is scheduled to appear at Central Local Court today.
