Police chopper called in to break up teenage Halloween party in Melbourne

A police helicopter was called in to control a wild Halloween party in the Melbourne suburb of Cairnlea last night. 

About 100 teenagers had converged on Station Road in Cairnlea to celebrate, and according to the party organiser Jason Miguel, it was peaceful before authorities arrived.

Officers resorted to using pepper spray to subdue the teenagers but it took two hours for the crowd to disperse.

A 14-year-old from St Albans and a 15-year-old from Maidstone were arrested during the confrontation.

Residents have asked police to do more to keep the peace in the area, which is a popular party spot.

Mr Miguel said the incident hadn't deterred him from planning parties at the site.
