Police give homeless man food from their own lunch bags

A California police officer has been photographed bringing water to a homeless man, in what’s been dubbed an unexpected act of kindness.

A photo of the moment was shared by Fairfield resident and Redditor emzieees yesterday, and shared to the Love What Matters Facebook page.

“Cops in my hometown saw a homeless man sitting on the courthouse steps,” the caption reads.

“They brought him trail mix, apples, and waters from their own lunch bags.”

The post has since received tens of thousands of reactions and hundreds of shares.

Facebook users have thanked the officers for their compassion, with one calling it a “sweet” exception to the norm.

“Every time I see cops with homeless, they're kicking them out of somewhere or arresting them for vagrancy or loitering,” user Marcus Williams wrote.
