Canberra man arrested, baby taken away

A baby is undergoing health checks after its father was arrested following a siege in a Canberra street.

The 27-year-old father was taken into custody for multiple breaches of bail conditions after heavily armed police closed off the street in northern Canberra suburb of Page on Tuesday.

The father and the baby were in the house alone, but there was no threat or harm to the infant, ACT Policing said.

However the baby was taken away in an ambulance.
