Teen charged after police car stolen from crime scene in NSW

A teenager has been charged with stealing a police car in Central West New South Wales.

At about 3.10pm last Friday, police were called to Cragie Lea Road in Narromine, where they found a car burning on the train line.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze and no injuries were reported.

While police were on the scene, a man allegedly stole a marked police car - a four-wheel drive Mitsubishi Pajero.

The car was found abandoned on Bloomfield Street, Trundle, last Saturday.

Police arrested an 18-year-old man at a house on Cathundril Street, Nyngan.

He was charged with multiple offences, including stealing the car, assaulting police, and breaching bail.

He was refused bail and will appear in court today.
