Two arrested after Tas police cars shot at

Two people have been arrested after two police vehicles were fired on in central Tasmania.
Officers were trying to recover a stolen car in the Highlands Lakes area and used road spikes on a vehicle which later crashed.
They say they were fired on as they approached the car early on Tuesday morning.

Gunfire peppered the driver's side door and smashed the driver's window.
An officer inside the vehicle was uninjured.
A second police vehicle approached and was also fired on.
Officers retreated and established a cordon around the offenders.
Two people were taken into custody about 11am (AEDT) and were being taken to Launceston police headquarters.
It is expected they will face court later on Tuesday.
