Police allegedly find $60k of cannabis during traffic stop

A South Australian man has been charged after police allegedly found a $60,000 haul of cannabis on board his truck during a routine traffic stop.
The 22-year-old man’s truck was pulled over by police conducting Operation Austrans, an annual operation targeting heavy vehicles.
Highway patrol officers stopped the man on the Sturt Highway, near Gol Gol, while en route to Sydney.
NSW Police allege they found a large amount of cash and cannabis in boxes when they searched the truck.
The cannabis was estimated to have a potential street value of $60,000.
Both the cash and the cannabis were seized for forensic examination.
The driver was arrested and taken to Dareton Police Station where he was charged with supplying cannabis, goods in custody and possession of cannabis.
He was refused bail and will appear in Broken Hill Local Court tomorrow.
