Police accused of rape to face committal

Two Queensland police officers charged with raping a woman while on duty will face a committal hearing in August.

It's alleged the officers, aged 28 and 29, raped the woman while on duty in Mackay in February.

They are each charged with five counts of rape and one count each of assault with intent to commit rape and deprivation of liberty.

On Friday, the case was mentioned in the Mackay Magistrates Court where a committal hearing was set down for August 28 in the same court.

The pair, who are on bail, were suspended from the force when the charges were laid and at least one of them has since quit.

The charges prompted a review into the force's recruitment process and an inquiry into whether the incident was isolated or indicative of a more serious problem in the force.

That process is still underway.
