PM quizzed on NDIS welfare cuts link

Malcolm Turnbull has rejected a suggestion by Labor the government is holding the future of the national disability insurance scheme "hostage" by linking its funding to cuts to families, carers, pensioners and young people.

Labor leader Bill Shorten quizzed the prime minister in parliament on Tuesday about the government's decision to put funds from budget cuts outlined in omnibus welfare bill in a special NDIS fund.

"It is the old story - the problem with socialists is eventually they run out of other people's money," Mr Turnbull told parliament.
