Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has offered his sympathies to the German people following the attacks in Munich and a train in Wuerzburg-Heidingsfeld.

Mr Turnbull spoke to the Germany embassy in Canberra, offering solidarity after the incidents, saying while the former was not terrorism-related the train incident was.

"The German people are in mourning and are deeply shocked as we all are by these attacks," he told reporters in Sydney on Monday.
