PM insists US-Aust trade deal safe

Malcolm Turnbull insists there is no threat to Australia-US free trade despite speculation President Donald Trump wants to renegotiate the 2005 agreement.

"I don't think we need to be concerned," the prime minister told Neil Mitchell on 3AW radio, noting Australia had a trade deficit with the United States.

The trade deficit is running at $25.6 billion, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
