Plea for public help over Gold Coast balcony death

Residents of the Gold Coast high-rise building where 26-year-old Warriena Wright fell 14 floors to her death, have been taken in by police for questioning.

Detectives trying to piece together Ms Wright’s final days and hours have pleaded with anybody who might have seen her in Australia to come forward.

Ms Wright died at an apartment owned by a man she had reportedly met through dating app Tinder.

That man, Gable Tostee, has hired a lawyer and remains the focus of an intense investigation as he lays low with family.

Police have seized CCTV from security cameras, and as forensic teams searched for clues at Avalon Apartments, detectives left with some residents for further questioning.

Ms Wright was in Queensland for a friend’s wedding.

An animal lover, she posted a picture of herself holding a snake at Australia Zoo.

Her best friend was with her on the Gold Coast.

On Facebook the friend posted: “It was just like a few days ago we were hanging out, taking selfies relaxing on the beach…”

Another friend laid flowers outside the apartments.

Complete strangers have also been touched, and in her home country of New Zealand, Ms Wright’s death is big news.

In Lower Hutt, where her family lives outside Wellington, her mother is a Deacon.

The church is preparing for a funeral as soon as the family can bring Ms Wright home.
