Light plane forced to make emergency landing on street after power failure

A plane was forced to make an emergency landing on a residential street in the United States yesterday, just minutes after it had taken off. 

Dashcam footage from a car that was travelling on Hamilton Street in California’s Huntington Beach, south of Los Angeles, shows the light aircraft swooping over vehicles to make the landing.

The Cessna 172 can be seen in the vision swaying from side-to-side as its pilot manages to miss low-hanging powerlines while also balancing the aircraft for the landing.

Meanwhile, cars came to a screeching halt to watch on as the plane came to the ground.

According to local authorities, the plane took off from John Wayne Airport and then quickly lost all power while mid-air.

Luckily, the pilot managed to safely bring the plane to the ground without causing any injuries or damage to the vehicles, property and street lights surrounding it.
