A Perth woman has captured an unusual “mini-tornado” forming off the city’s coast today.

North Fremantle woman Michele Davies was on an early afternoon walk when she saw a “dark finger” of clouds form amid gusty winds near Carnac Island.

The Leighton Beach resident’s video showed a dark column spiral from the low clouds and almost reach the sea just after midday.

Ms Davies said the formation moved past Fremantle in rapid time.

“It moved with incredible speed from Carnac to beyond Freo in less than five minutes,” Ms Davies told 9news.com.au.

“It was beautiful to see.

“We live in such a wonderful place where it's easy to witness and enjoy the changing environment.”
