Uber driver punched through car window

A young Uber driver says he no longer feels safe after being attacked at random in Perth's CBD.

A violent group jumped in front of the 26-year-old's car before attacking him.

Bilal Baiju says he was on his way to Northbridge to pick up a customer at 1.30am on Sunday.

Turning onto Roe Street, he slowed down for three men who jumped in front of his car and then repaid him with abuse.

"Bro did you not see us walking across the road you gay ----?" one of the three men can be heard saying on dashcam video.

The trio repeatedly punched his rental car and then hit him through his open window.

"I can't even breathe in from this side, it's blocked with blood," Mr Baiju said of his nose.

Mr Baiju is a qualified electrical engineer.

He moved to Australia because he thought it was safe, he said, and is working for Uber to support his parents and brother back in India.

Now he says he "feels so unsafe" and "fearful".

He said he didn't know if the attack was racially motivated but that he was just trying to help people.

WA Police are looking for the three attackers, who can be seen on the dashcam footage.

They're fair skinned and in their late teens or early 20s.
