Woman's body discovered outside Perth home after 'disturbance'

The death of a woman whose body was found outside a home in Perth yesterday afternoon has been deemed not suspicious.

Police were called to the residence on Burlington Street in St James just after 3pm yesterday for a reported disturbance, where they found the woman's body on the verge of a property.

Officers quickly attended the scene and police placed a sheet over the woman's body.

A man, believed to be in his 50s, was placed in handcuffs before his hands were placed in evidence bags.

He was questioned by detectives for about half-an-hour before he was taken away from the scene.

Police cordoned off the street and Alday Street.

9News understands about nine detectives were joined by forensics officers just after 5pm.

The homicide squad also attended and four residential blocks were shut down.

Residents were warned to stay inside their homes while investigations continue.

A WA police spokeswoman said the woman's cause of death was not suspicious.
