Perth mother awoken by shots fired into her living room

A Perth mother of five was inside her Midland home, when the front living room was sprayed with projectiles.

Police were called to the North Street address around 4:30 this morning, with forensics called in to inspect the damage.

A relative who was also inside said she heard one shot, followed by a crashing sound and told others in the house to get down.

Residents said it's typically a quiet street.

"I wasn't expecting this stuff, especially in this street which I thought was the safest street in Midland," Chandan Kapania said.

"I'm shocked and a bit more concerned about my family's safety."

Detectives are trying to determine what kind of weapon was used and who is responsible.

Police believe the suburban shooting was targeted, with no ongoing threat to the public.

But neighbor's say its little comfort, after problems at the property in the past.

"There's always been dramas and troubles next door over the past few years but never anything like this," Robin Rukavina said.

Mr Rukavina said this is breaking point, after previously complaining to the council.

"It's definitely no good something needs to be done, I've tried contacting the owners before but it's so hard, even for the council."

Police want to hear from anyone who noticed suspicious activity in North street between 4 and 4:30am to contact them.
