Perth mum slapped with $60 fine for parking in her own driveway

A Perth mother has been slapped with a fine for parking in her own driveway.

Courtney Luntie-Jenkins said she has parked her Ford Ranger at the front of her Byford house in the same spot for more than a year because it doesn’t fit in the garage.

On Monday, she came outside to find a $60 fine on her windscreen because the council said the car’s towbar was a safety concern.

“We laughed, I thought it was funny,” Ms Luntie-Jenkins told 9NEWS.

“Seen it on my windscreen and thought it was hilarious.”

The local council said it told owners in the area not to park in the driveway and instead leave their vehicles on the verge.

However, Ms Luntie-Jenkins said she never received the warning, claiming she was told not to park on the side of the road.

Sustainability experts believe with shrinking block sizes, problems like this will continue to occur.
