Perth man's pool backflip inches from disaster

They warned him he wouldn't make it - and he proved them wrong by the slimmest of margins.

The Aussie pool jump has long been a backyard tradition but one foolish daredevil has taken it to dangerous new levels with a backflip that came sickeningly close to disaster.

Perth man Brodie Sciberras was filmed by a mate attempting to flip over nearly three metres of pavement into the pool as his friends begged him to stop.

"No don't, I don't want to see this," the cameraman says. "You could die. I don't want to watch."

Sciberras lines up the jump for over a minute, at one point stumbling as he tries to keep his balance on edge of the tiled roof.

He then launches himself backwards over the seemingly impossible distance, nearly sustaining a serious head injury on the way down.

The video was shared online on Sunday and has been viewed over 2500 times.
