Perth Hills residents unite against development plans
On the eve of both a state and federal election, a community group fighting against urban development in the Perth Hills has united political parties in a rare display of solidarity.
Politicians have vowed to protect the North Stoneville site from development by the Satterley property group, which is proposing to build a housing development on land owned by the Anglican Church.
Debra Bishop from the Save Perth Hills group is rallying against the proposal, citing concerns about "dangerous bushfire planning, destruction of the environment, wiping out endangered black cockatoo habitat, and wiping out 60,000 trees on a single site".

The fight against the development has been ongoing for 34 years and has now brought together politicians from various parties, including Labor, the Liberals, Greens and Nationals.
Thousands of locals attended a rally against the proposal yesterday.
"All the politicians that stand here today, we need you, we rely on you to represent us authentically," protester Cleo Williams said.
"We are not just ballots in a box."
