Man dies in hospital after stabbing at home south of Perth

A man is assisting police after another man was fatally stabbed inside a home south of Perth overnight.

Police and St John ambulance crews were called to the home on Port Royal Drive in Safety Bay just before midnight yesterday, following reports a man had been seriously injured.

The man, who has not been identified, with what police described as a serious injury "consistent with a stab wound".

He was taken to Rockingham General Hospital by ambulance but died a short time later.

The Homicide Squad is investigating the death.

A man is assisting police with the investigation, with authorities saying there are no ongoing threats to the public.
