Perth couple die after motorbike collides with car

A Perth couple have died after a motorbike accident, leaving their six-year-old son without parents.

Paul Pearce and his partner Lynette Reader were riding along Pinjar Road in Tapping about 9.20pm on Sunday when they came over a crest and collided with a car.

The driver of the Toyota, a 43-year-old woman, was turning a corner when she was hit. She only suffered a minor eye injury.

Pearce, 39, died at the scene. Reader was rushed to hospital but she could not be saved.

"A young, loving couple that cherished their son dearly ... I have no other words than 'taken too soon'," Reader's mother said in a statement to 9News.

"Wherever Lynette went she would light up the room - her smile and laughter was contagious to many," her brother added.

Police are investigating whether speed was a factor in the deadly crash. It's understood the couple had just sold the motorbike and were only minutes from home when the accident happened.

"It's another very strong and sad reminder that motorcycling is a dangerous way to move about,  and you've got to be very careful about the way you execute your driving on a motorcycle," WA Police Commissioner Col Blanch said.

Authorities have asked anyone with dashcam footage to contact them.
