Perth workers left traumatised after gunman chase caught on CCTV

Dramatic security vision has emerged of a robbery in Perth's southern suburbs, where a gunman chased two workers as they tried to hide.

Two men broke into the Naval Base engineering workshop at around 9.30pm on Wednesday night.

Hiding from workers the pair searched for things to steal – unaware they were being filmed by security cameras.

Carrying things to a waiting car, the pair raided the workshop for almost half an hour before they are spotted.

"These guys come to work everyday...and it's not part of their job description to be held at gunpoint," business owner Phil Vergone told 9NEWS.

With the gunman standing guard his accomplice continued to carry things outside, before driving off in a red sedan.

"I estimate they've taken about three or four thousand dollars worth of stuff, but I think there was a laptop, a welder and just various other bits of tooling and leveling equipment, that sort of stuff," Mr Vergone said.

He said the two workers involved are extremely shaken.

"We just don't want anyone injured, but the mental scars, you just know these guys are going to react to that," Mr Vergone said.

It is unknown if they workers will continue to work nightshift.
