Pell regrets terrible suffering of victims

Cardinal George Pell says he deeply regrets the suffering of clergy abuse victims.

Cardinal Pell said the suffering of a man who was sexually abused as a child by priest Gerald Francis Ridsdale in the early 1970s was terrible and the victim was not alone.

"There were many others suffered in a similarly terrible way and I deeply regret that," Cardinal Pell told the child abuse royal commission from Rome.
