Man charged after pedestrian fatally struck with car in Sydney's south

A man has been charged after a pedestrian died when they were struck by an SUV in Sydney's south last night.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Forest Road and Pritchard Place in Peakhurst about 5.45pm on Friday, after reports a 63-year-old woman had been critically injured when she was struck by a car.

The woman died at the scene.

Police said the 48-year-old man, who was allegedly driving the car, was taken to St George Hospital for mandatory testing.

A crime scene was established.

Following police inquiries, the man was taken to Kogarah Police Station where he was charged with negligent driving occasioning death.

The man was refused bail and appeared in Parramatta Bail court today.

He will remain in custody until he appears in Sutherland Local Court on Friday, August 9.
