Woman and children injured in Peakhurst crash

A mother and her four children are recovering from various injuries after their minivan was involved in a collision at Peakhurst in Sydney's south this morning.

Six ambulances rushed to the scene in Forest Road, where emergency crews quickly worked to free the eldest 17-year-old daughter who was trapped in the front passenger seat.

The airbag went off in the crash and injured the teenager, making it difficult for paramedics to assess her injuries before freeing her.

Three young children in the back seat were also injured in the crash, but thankfully only suffered minor cuts and scratches.

The younger siblings were brought to St George Hospital as a precautionary measure, but there current condition is not known.

Witness Michael Adams said the family was traumatised from the crash.

"It is quite an accident-prone intersection," he said. "It is a fairly regular occurrence, but this was quite a large accident."

A white ute involved in the collision was towed away from the scene.
