Pauline Hanson gives government tax cut hope

Pauline Hanson has given the government new hope One Nation will back tax cuts for big companies.

Ms Hanson said she was encouraged after ten CEOs, and the Business Council, gave assurances the cuts would mean more jobs, and ultimately, higher wages.

"They are saying they'll come to the party," Ms Hanson said.

"That was the sticking point.

"It does help, very much so."

The One Nation Leader said she was also happy with assurances given by mining magnate, Andrew "Twiggy" Forrest.

The Council and chief executives wrote to the crossbenchers yesterday, pleading for their support.

However, Victorian Senator, Derryn Hinch, wasn't satisfied.

"There's nothing in there that guarantees workers are going to get more wages," Senator Hinch said.

"It doesn't guarantee anything."

Senator Hinch pointed to the American experience.

"The money's given to share buy backs and dividends," he said.

"The share buy backs help the share holders and so do the dividends."

Senator Hinch wants legislated guarantees the tax cuts would mean higher wages.

The government needs nine crossbenchers to get the legislation through the Upper House.

Senator Hinch received a letter from Finance Minister, Mathias Cormann, overnight and while he wouldn't reveal the contents, he did say there was "some good stuff in it".

"But it doesn't get us over the line," he said.

The minister said the business intervention was "very encouraging".
