Parking prices are the next living cost set to skyrocket across Sydney.

Some of the city's most popular waterfront spots will see a parking price rise from July 1.

Mosman Council is raising maximum all-day parking fees at Balmoral, Clifton Gardens and Rosherville Reserve by 75 per cent in winter, from $20 to $35.

Prices at some waterfront parking spots in Mosman will spike in July. 9News

It will rise by even more in the summer months, up to $40 a day.

Hourly rates will also go up from $9 to $10.

Mosman Council is also raising parking fees outside Taronga Zoo by 13 per cent to $22 per day and parking at the Spit will jump $2 to $25 per day on the weekends.

The council said the change is to keep up with the Northern Beaches, where it is $10 an hour during summer.

"A lot of the income goes toward looking after facilities, garbage pick ups have to do three or four times a day because so many people." Councillor Libby McLean said.

The council claims it is to keep up with other council costs. 9News

Locals with a permit will still be able to park for free but tourists will be impacted by the price rise.

"I don't know anywhere else in the world where parking is $10 an hour, seems unfair," a woman said.

Businesses aren't happy about the price hike either, saying it will deter tourists from visiting.

"We really rely on people coming here especially on the weekends," Kazzi Beach Greek venue manager Valentino Michaelides said.

Local businesses, like Mr Michaelides', are not happy about the price hike. 9News

At Bondi, drivers pay between $5 and $9 an hour depending on the season.

"If it's cheaper at Bondi, more reason for them to go there instead," Mr Michaelides said.
