Childcare costs set to soar for Australian parents

New figures suggest childcare costs are set to soar past $200 per day for Australian parents, well before proposed legislation surrounding fee changes takes effect in July 2017.

Education Minister Simon Birmingham says parents should shop around for childcare providers and carefully scrutinise what they're being offered.

"I would encourage parents to scrutinise very carefully what they're being charged and to quiz those service providers," Mr Birmingham told reporters today, amid concern about the price hikes.
