Parents outraged at sight of child locked in car during 35 degree day

Social media users have been quick to condemn a NSW parent after photographs were posted to an online community of a baby asleep in the back of a car during heatwave-conditions.

Days after a three-year-old child died after being locked in a car on Christmas Eve at a property in Sydney's north-west, a passer-by vented their anger over the fact a parent would leave their child locked in a car on a 35-degree day.

"Shame shame shame," the image caption read.

"We are having a heatwave and this fool leaves their child unattended in their car."

In the picture, the child appears to be alone on the back seat of a dark grey, red P-Plate adorned Ford.

It was taken in an undercover carpark in Edgeworth, 18km west of central Newcastle.

The image was re-shared on other closed Facebook communities where similar sentiment was shared, as cited by Daily Mail Australia.

"I would have smashed the front windscreen in," one woman wrote. "It's 40 odd degrees outside imagine inside a car. And these people call themselves parents."

"I literally took all 3 of my kids out of the car to walk into the local corner shop to get bread... took no longer than 2mins but you still don't leave them," another concerned parent wrote.
