Palmer seeks Turnbull timetable

Clive Palmer has challenged Malcolm Turnbull to say whether he would serve a full term if re-elected.

The Palmer United Party leader used question time on Thursday to comically quiz Australia's "third oldest prime minister" on his future plans.

"Will you serve a full term in parliament or retire to your unit in New York and do a switch with the Member for Warringah (Tony Abbott), sustaining yourself with innovation and growth opportunities your investments have provided for the people of the Cayman Islands?

"It's never been a more exciting time to be a Cayman Islander. Are you a seat warmer?"

Mr Turnbull said he did not hear the entire question over laughter in the chamber.

"I gather the honourable member is inquiring about my health and I thank him for his interest and I can assure you, I'm in the very best of form."

The prime minister faced questions last year over his investments in companies that use the Cayman Islands, a notorious tax haven.

Mr Turnbull said at the time he had no control over individual investments made by hedge funds in which he invested.
