Palmer rules out switch to Senate

Clive Palmer has ruled out trying a switch to the Senate but says his party can still win the balance of power in the upper house.

Mr Palmer has vowed to recontest his seat of Fairfax on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, but says his party will run candidates in other seats and believes it can win the balance of power in the Senate.

"Yes I'm standing in Fairfax. I've always said that. I can't be in two places at once," he told AAP.

He said the government was clearly worried about his party's capacity to snooker it again.

"They are concerned, having tried to rig the Senate vote, that our party will again get the balance in the Senate. We can still do that without me (seeking a Senate spot)."
