Palmer companies prop up his party

The Palmer United Party received no major donations from anyone other than Clive Palmer himself.

The Australian Electoral Commission on Monday published the first funding disclosure figures relating to PUP since it was registered in July 2013.

PUP received a total $28.83 million in donations for the 2013/14 financial year.

The figures showed Mr Palmer's Queensland Nickel as the biggest donor to the party, contributing $15.2 million.

His resources company Mineralogy provided $8.2 million while his tourism venture Palmer Coolum Resort on Queensland's Sunshine Coast donated $2.3 million.

Mr Palmer himself is listed as personally donating $102,000, while Palmer Leisure Australia provided the party with $90,283.

But no one other than Mr Palmer or his companies provided an amount of more than the registrable $12,400.

The AEC reported Labor received $78.2 million over the financial year, almost half that of the Liberals ($125 million).

The Nationals received $12 million, while the Greens' coffers totalled $21.36 million.
